Merge Records is celebrating its 25th Anniversary by reissuing 25 albums from their back catalog throughout the year. And what better way to kick things off than with Lambchop’s 2000 LP Nixon. Integrating bits of country, folk, soul, r&b, gospel – and with Kurt Wagner’s signature gravelly voice and his long forgotten falsetto (which went the way of the cigarette) – the band’s fifth album is just as stunning now as it was then. Featuring the iconic artwork (which is reason enough to add to your collection) this is the first time Nixon has been available on wax in North America – and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl. It also includes the bonus CD of the live recording White Sessions 1998: How I Met Cat Power.
This is a must buy for any fan of Lambchop – and a nice introduction for those who aren’t yet familiar. Pick up the release at the Merge website or at your local record store now! And check out the video for ‘Up With People’ below.
